Healthy eating for a busy lifestyle is difficult but achievable. As we live busier and busier lives, we require good strategies and approaches that make food affordable, tasty and good for you.

The key to any type of healthy food consumption is consistency. Consistency leads to powerful habits that recur over and over again, benefiting your life in powerful ways. Through this consistency in your food, you can achieve better clarity of thought, better physical appearance and a wider knowledge of foods.

This post will cover some of the key ways you can incorporate great foods into your diet.

Tip #1 Meal Preparation

Meal prep is a great way of keeping your meals easy and on track. Often times, our motivation to be healthy dips throughout the week, so preparing your meals at the beginning of your week on the weekend means that you stay consistent with your goals as well as plan out what you will have.

It’s easy to veer off course when you feel busy or stressed, so meal prep is a good way of minimizing your chances to become unfocused, as you are less inclined to want to discard food or see all of your meal prep efforts go to waste. It also saves time and money in the mornings, lunchtimes and evenings as you pre-prepare foods that are affordable but still healthy.

Tip #2 Healthy Snacks

Healthy snacks are a great way to keep hunger at bay by satisfying cravings with easy or bad food. Often times when we feel hungry and under pressure we instinctively grab a candy bar or sugary snack to keep us energized.

While this short term solution may feel good, it’s better to go for healthy foods like seeds or nuts that offer slower releasing energy and satisfy your cravings for food. Keeping a bag of cashews, carrot sticks or some other type of nut you enjoy keeps your energy levels up and makes you less likely to go for the unhealthier options.

Tip #3 Keep Well Hydrated

Many people confuse feeling thirsty for feeling hungry. Whenever you feel like filling your belly, it may often be just because you’re not drinking enough water.

Not drinking water can cause you to be irritable, lack energy and be lethargic. By keeping well hydrated you keep your body fueled and less likely to reach for junk food. You can boost your health a lot in a busy schedule by just keeping extra water on you at all times.

Tip #4 Schedule your Meal Times

Often when we’re busy we forget to eat regularly. This can lead to a lot of negative consequences, such as excess fat storage and gorging ourselves when we do eat.

To keep on track, it’s important to schedule your meal times to when you know you’ll need to eat and refuel. This builds a good habit of keeping up your healthy food intake without feeling the stress of inconsistent meal times. This also reduces your stress, as you know when to expect your next meal rather than putting off eating until your schedule is empty or your feel extreme hunger.

  1. Point 4 is so relevant for me! I always forget to plan food breaks in my day and when I’m busy, it always gets missed. Thankfully, I’m a snacker, so even if I don’t plan a meal I’m still usually munching away on some almonds or fruit to keep me going. It’s so easy to forget to drink when you’re busy too! I drink a lot of water, but I tend to drink large amounts in one go. I’m constantly trying to work on keeping myself consistently hydrated x

Yes! Remembering to drink water when you’re not exactly thirsty can be hard. Keeping a water bottle handy throughout the day definitely helps me though. Thanks for reading!
